BBB Overview
The Better Business Bureau assists hundreds of thousands of people each week by providing phone and Internet reports about companies and charities. The BBB monitors the marketplace for deceptive advertising, sales tactics, fraud, misleading charitable appeals, and fly-by-night scams.

The BBB is a non-profit organization funded by dues from member companies. BBB members must adhere to strict guidelines and settle disputes in a fair and efficient manner. The Bureau issues reports about companies to the public on both members and non-members in both English and Spanish

The BBB works closely with local and national media to alert the public about the latest schemes and scams affecting the marketplace. Bureau staff cooperates extensively with local, state and federal law enforcement to eradicate fraud.
The local BBB serves the South Texas area and 18 Texas counties: Austin, Brazoria, Brooks,
Cameron, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Harris, Hidalgo, Jim Hogg,
Kenedy, Matagorda, Montgomery, Starr, Waller, Wharton, Willacy & Zapata.

The local BBB is one of more than 120 Bureaus in the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Individual BBBs are members of the Council of Better Business Bureaus based in Arlington, VA
